SEC Faculty: Scott W. Friestad

Scott W. Friestad has been with the SEC for over fifteen years and is the Associate Director and Special Advisor to the Director in the Division of Enforcement. In his current position, Scott is responsible for overseeing the Commission’s national enforcement program and directing a broad range of the SEC’s domestic and international enforcement activities, including investigations involving accounting fraud, insider trading, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and cases involving broker-dealers, hedge funds and other regulated entities. Prior to joining the Commission, Scott was a litigator for six years at Dewey Ballantine in New York. He received both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Iowa.
